Digital Connectivity with Onkyo ND-S1 Dock

This little device performs some seriously impressive interfacing for i-pod and computer users who have a high quality music or A/V system.

Firstly, it is an i-pod docking station, but with a difference. The digital data on the i-pod is accessed allowing an external high quality D/A converter to decode and output the music to achieve the highest possible quality.

Secondly, a USB connection allows PC / Laptop users to output their music files to their Hi Fi or A/V system in the same way.

The unit comes complete with remote control, and is £150.

Focal Electra Be 2

We now have the Focal Electra 1028Be and 1008Be on demonstration in the shop. Both of these speakers represent a big improvement in performance on their original counterparts (1027Be and 1007Be). Whereas the old 1007 was clearly behind the old Micro Utopia Be in terms of performance, with the exception of bass extension, we would put the new 1008 clearly ahead in all important areas. So basically more performance than we were getting a year ago for less than two thirds of the price. The Electra 1028 builds substantially on the performance of the 1008 in low frequency extension and ability to scale.

The 1008 is priced at £2,649 for standard finishes, and the 1028 is £4,600.

Something for The Proms?

The Proms (the world's largest music festival) starts on the 18th of July, and features dozens of concerts from the world's finest musicians. All these concerts are broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Of course Radio 3 and other stations also feature a wide range of quality music throughout the year.

Now we are back with FM as the only high quality radio medium in the UK, isn't it time that you considered adding a high quality FM tuner to your music system?

At The AudioWorks, we have a range of quality FM tuners on demonstration. With models from Creek (starting at £260) and the very fine Magnum Dynalab MD 90T (pictured below) at £1295, we are sure to have something to satisfy your desire to explore new music.

MIT Cables

We thought that we were familiar with MIT cable technology, after all we have been using MIT manufactured cables (albeit with the Spectral name on them) for the last six years. However nothing could have prepared us for the leap in sound quality that has emanated as a result of their patented multipole technology.

With speaker cables incorporating multipole technology starting at around the £200 price point, these cables should have applications in a wide range of systems.

The ultimate expression of the ability of these cables resides in the MIT MA (Maximum Articulation) range. Awesome!

For those who have difficulty with the concept of cables making a difference to the performance of a system, you should probably read the following:MIT Cables at Skywalker productions
Two New CD Players from Cairn

We have mentioned the Cairn Fog 3 CD player (£2,200) in the virtual pub, and this continues to set the standard amongst CD players at this price point. We are now delighted to announce the arrival of the Cairn Tornado priced at £950. This new CD player, brings more than a hint of it's more expensive brother's performance to the sub £1,000 price range.

Siltech Home Audition Service

Siltech make the finest interconnect cables we have heard. Whether it is a MXT London cable (£130) in a Creek system, or a Compass Lake (around £6,280) with dCS, their cables have provided us with our reference point for the last four years.

Because we know that Siltech cables can be hard to find in shops in the UK, we are delighted to offer a home trialling service for the MXT interconnect range. This range comprises three cables: London £130; Paris £170; and New York £230; for 1m pairs.

Hot Hi Fi System

Creek Classic CD player, New Sugden A21a integrated amplifier, Focal 806V loudspeakers on Quadraspire / MusicWorks Acrylic speaker stands.

The components that make up this system perform way out of their price bracket individually, as a system, we believe you will be staggered by the performance offered for the money.

Matrix - CD Storage Sorted

How about a flexible CD storage system that looks cool, is totally modular, and to cap it all, is very cost effective.

The MusicWorks Matrix is manufactured from acrylic and aluminium. The modules bolt together horizontally and vertically to form a storage system capable of being a neat solution for a small CD collection, and of growing to contain the largest.
