We would much prefer to term the audio equipment that we sell, music systems. This sums up the entire purpose of the products we stock, from all in one systems, to our High End cost no object equipment.
When you come into our shop to choose a Hi-Fi system, we will talk to you about music and musical performance. All the products are carefully selected to offer great value for money at their price point.
If you enjoy music, you will love our Hi-Fi!
Two new MusicWorks mains leads are now available, and on demonstration. The new leads feature the Furutech 13A UK mains plug, and the top lead also includes the top of the range Furutech IEC plug. All existing MusicWorks mains lead owners are entitled to a trade in depending on product and age of trade in.
These cables represent a very significant step forward on previous cables
MusicWorks ReVive 'Lite' IEC power cable - a compound screened mains lead with Furutech 13A Rhodium plated mains plug - £350.
MusicWorks ReVive IEC power acble - a compound screened mains cable with all metal parts cryogenically treated, featuring Furutech 13A Rhodium plated 13A plug, and Furutech FI-50R IEC plug - £750.

This little device performs some seriously impressive interfacing for i-pod and computer users who have a high quality music or A/V system.
Firstly, it is an i-pod docking station, but with a difference. The digital data on the i-pod is accessed allowing an external high quality D/A converter to decode and output the music to achieve the highest possible quality.
Secondly, a USB connection allows PC / Laptop users to output their music files to their Hi Fi or A/V system in the same way.
The unit comes complete with remote control, and is £150.

We now have the Focal Electra 1028Be and 1008Be on demonstration in the shop. Both of these speakers represent a big improvement in performance on their original counterparts (1027Be and 1007Be). Whereas the old 1007 was clearly behind the old Micro Utopia Be in terms of performance, with the exception of bass extension, we would put the new 1008 clearly ahead in all important areas. So basically more performance than we were getting a year ago for less than two thirds of the price. The Electra 1028 builds substantially on the performance of the 1008 in low frequency extension and ability to scale.
The 1008 is priced at £2,649 for standard finishes, and the 1028 is £4,600.

The Proms (the world's largest music festival) starts on the 18th of July, and features dozens of concerts from the world's finest musicians. All these concerts are broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Of course Radio 3 and other stations also feature a wide range of quality music throughout the year.
Now we are back with FM as the only high quality radio medium in the UK, isn't it time that you considered adding a high quality FM tuner to your music system?
At The AudioWorks, we have a range of quality FM tuners on demonstration. With models from Creek (starting at £260) and the very fine Magnum Dynalab MD 90T (pictured below) at £1295, we are sure to have something to satisfy your desire to explore new music.

We thought that we were familiar with MIT cable technology, after all we have been using MIT manufactured cables (albeit with the Spectral name on them) for the last six years. However nothing could have prepared us for the leap in sound quality that has emanated as a result of their patented multipole technology.
With speaker cables incorporating multipole technology starting at around the £200 price point, these cables should have applications in a wide range of systems.
The ultimate expression of the ability of these cables resides in the MIT MA (Maximum Articulation) range. Awesome!
For those who have difficulty with the concept of cables making a difference to the performance of a system, you should probably read the following:MIT Cables at Skywalker productions
When you first hear what these cables can do, it is a bit unnerving. We hadn't experienced an effect such as these cables bring when making any other system upgrade!
The best analogy to use is a photographic one. Insertion of one of these speaker cables featuring 'multipole' is like turning the focus ring on an SLR camera. The soundstage suddenly snaps into a three dimensional space. Musically what happens is even more profound. The harmonic envelope of instruments is better defined, for example a trumpet sounds more trumpet like and less like an undefined brass instrument. Timing is locked more solidly so, for example, the back beat provided by a rhythm section is more solid. Sibilants are improved also - our theory had always been that sibilants were not a result of excess treble energy, but treble energy presented out of time with the rest of the envelope. The effect of these cables is to reintegrate this, leading to a the contradictory feeling that are listening to a less bright sound, but with significantly better treble detail!
Multipole technology is also incorporated into their interconnects with similar results.
The bottom line is that these cables represent a very significant step forward in high fidelity reproduction!

We have mentioned the Cairn Fog 3 CD player (£2,200) in the virtual pub, and this continues to set the standard amongst CD players at this price point. We are now delighted to announce the arrival of the Cairn Tornado priced at £950. This new CD player, brings more than a hint of it's more expensive brother's performance to the sub £1,000 price range.
Both these CD players major at tunefulness, timing and dynamics. At the moment we feel you have to spend more than double the Fog 3's price to better its performance.
A very accurate review of the Fog 3 is in the latest copy of Hi Fi Plus magazine (Feb 08).

Siltech make the finest interconnect cables we have heard. Whether it is a MXT London cable (£130) in a Creek system, or a Compass Lake (around £6,280) with dCS, their cables have provided us with our reference point for the last four years.
Because we know that Siltech cables can be hard to find in shops in the UK, we are delighted to offer a home trialling service for the MXT interconnect range. This range comprises three cables: London £130; Paris £170; and New York £230; for 1m pairs.
If you do not have a local dealer who will allow you to try these cables at home, contact us by email, or telephone and we will arrange to send you a cable for home trial.
Siltech cables are used in some of the world's finest systems, and in the right context can provide a substantial improvement in a systems dynamic and tonal capabilities.
Carriage cost will be £5-00, and payment for the cable will be taken at the time of dispatch. The cable price will be fully reimbursed if it is returned to us within 21 days of receipt.
For those interested in what Siltech can do at higher performance levels, we have Classic (SQ28, SQ110) and Signature (Forbes Lake and Compass Lake) on demonstration.

Creek Classic CD player, New Sugden A21a integrated amplifier, Focal 806V loudspeakers on Quadraspire / MusicWorks Acrylic speaker stands.
The components that make up this system perform way out of their price bracket individually, as a system, we believe you will be staggered by the performance offered for the money.
The Creek Classic CD player (£850) has been a benchmark product for us for some time. For sheer insight into the musical event, this CD player has seen off some very expensive and highly regarded products from major manufacturers.
Sugden have upped the not inconsiderable ante established by the original A21 amplifier with their new model (£1,399). Now with remote control and industrially engineered front panel and controls, the important difference is in the quality of sound. This amplifier represents a major step forward for both Sugden and what is available at this price point.
Focal (nee JM Lab) have made a considerable impact with their new Chorus range of loudspeakers. While all the 800 series are stars, the fact that this sort of performance can be achieved for £499 in the 806V, makes the achievement all the more startling. Coupled with the MusicWorks designed Quadraspire QX600 acrylic speaker stand (£250) you have a speaker system that can outperform many at 4 times the price.
Ancillaries: MusicWorks ReFlex 'Lite' mains block (£370) & IEC Plus mains leads (£100 each); Siltech Paris interconnect (£170); and last but not least a Quadraspire Q4 table at £85 per tier.
