Welcome to the Northern Sound & Vision 2008 blog. This is a blog that is designed to keep visitors up to date with the progress we are making towards our biggest event of the year!
It will include information on what rooms we have, what manufacturers will be there, any show special offers, and much more about the show.
15 hours to go...
It has been a very mad day today (as you can imagine), and we have just set up our room (number 424) and it is sounding really quite good.
We've had the usual problems in the room (and the big tower in the middle of one wall, which creates a bay really doesn't help), but on the whole things seem to be going well.
We should just about be ready for the show tomorrow.
Keep checking this page, as we will be announcing some exclusive show offers very soon!

An interactive demonstration is planned with Steve acting as MC. The demonstrations will be split with one demonstrating the effects of the latest mains and equipment support improvements, and the other showing progress from a first class integrated amplifier (probably Accuphase E-308) to adding a top flight preamplifier (Spectral 15) and then adding a power amp (Spectral 100s). We also plan to launch our association with Avalon Acoustics by showing either NP2.0 or Ascendant speakers.
MusicWorks and MIT / Siltech cables will be used, and the latest MusicWorks version of the Quadraspire Acrylic reference table will be shown.

The Lucid AV room is 426. The main feature is The Calibration Workshop. You will see the benefits of calibration on a unique split screen display. Sources will be Bluray and HD DVD playing on a pair of Optoma HD80 '1080p Full HD' projectors. Surround sound will be Onkyo electronics and Monitor Audio speakers courtesy of The Audio Works.
The nature of the workshops means they will be conducted behind closed doors so audience numbers are limited. I anticipate the maximum will be 5 people per session; but we will try to run as many workshops as possible during the day. The plan is to run two 20-minute sessions per hour, one at 10 past and the other at 20 to. Each Workshop will last 15-20 minutes. Bookings will be taken on each day on a first come first served basis. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
In between sessions I will have some other new and enticing products on display.
Planar is a US TV & projector brand making big waves here. The 37" 1080p monitor looks very interesting. Epsom launched their TW2000 1080p projector to critical acclaim in November. With high brightness and high contrast it is a good choice for larger screens or higher ambient light.
Systemline and Sonos provide wired and wireless solutions to whole house music distribution. Both will be on working display along with Flatline inceiling speakers coupled to a unique new acoustic backbox that improves speaker performance while reducing sound leakage. And last but not least, a solution to controlling all your gadgets that works intuitively; the Nevo SL touch screen remote.
Phew, what a lot to see and experience. Can you afford not to visit room 426? See you there!
